She sat upon her porch of dreams
Remembering such things as these
A woman now of such old age
Wondering how she reached this day
Alone she sits in quiet vigil
Of a time that long came to pass
A memory of a man who's love
Took her to the heavens above

They were but together once or twice
He had another in his life
They had found each other out one night
Fallen to the drunkards delights
Swept away in the magic of lust
They breeched the worlds of others trust
No harm was intended and none came
Just to souls lost, found again

Both being from different worlds
They broke the barriers and fell towards
A moment so profound and deep
That forever in her memory she keeps
Thoughts of such a sweet and dreamy time
Moments of touching so divine
His magic ran through her like warm summers rains
She ached for him, she knew the pain
That would be caused should his lover know
That these moments they stole

She had called to him upon the night
Two caged birds bound by life
Fly with me she called to him
Burn with me a candle within
A vigil to a memory we make
I'll walk away, not hesitate
Just fly with me one more time
I'll cradle you in my wings divine

He could not resist her call
Together they flew all night long
Soaring to the heavens above
Two caged birds soared as one
Gently embracing the love they made
Saving it up for rainy days
When sitting on their porch of dreams
A smile would pass of a memory so keen
That yesterday it seemed to be
Though many years lie in between

A smile creases her aged skin
As she remembers her time with him
A tear tumbles softly on her cheek
A feeling so wondrous it makes her weak
She still remembers the night they flew
She thinks of it often as it gets her through
The lonely days as her time draws near
And to the grave her soul is steered
She knows she will go proudly on
Carrying his sweet memory along

A little chuckle he emits
As upon his porch he sits
Thinking of his bird in flight
The one that called to him that night
The one who took his hand in hers
And said my love help make my world
She gave the gift of life to him
Each time he remembers when
She gave him courage to face his dreams
To enjoy the beauty that life brings
When we release the locks upon our cage
And fly like birds far and away

As the rain began to fall
Soft trickles are all that recall
The tears that once fell down her face
His memories of her never misplaced
Both lain in their graves of life
Two small birds take to flight
There before the dawn's sunrise
Two caged birds learned to fly
